The Peninsula -- The Joint Committee on Human Food Control has lifted the ban on imports of vegetables and fruits from Kerala-India, imposed in June this year, following reports of the outbreak of Nipah virus in southern India's state of Kerala.

In a press statement, the Committee confirmed that the lifting of the ban follows the stabilization of the epidemiological situations following the outbreak of Nipah virus, while stressing the need to follow the recommended health guidelines of washing and peeling fruit before consumption.
