Gulf Times -- Pan-Asian restaurant chain Wagamama has created a new vegan and vegetarian menu featuring 15 plant-based dishes “in response to growing demand”, it has been announced.

“A colorful combination of brand-new and reimagined choices, the new menu features flavors inspired by different areas of Asia that reflect the soul of Wagamama’s core belief: good change,” according to a press statement issued by Ali Bin Ali Group.

A newly-crafted kare burosu ramen features on the menu vitamin-rich vegetables in a curried broth, accompanied by shichimi coated silken tofu, brought to life with a kick of chilli and a fresh coriander garnish.

Mario Baartman, the head chef, said: “When talking to vegan customers, what they want the most is inclusion. That is the same with our vegetarian fans. Our first-ever dedicated vegan and vegetarian menu can be the starting point to support a vegan lifestyle choice. We will be listening to our fans to make sure we are constantly adapting and innovating to meet customer desires and a modern lifestyle.”

The perceived health benefits of a vegan diet are thought to be driving the pioneering food trend. Advocates of plant-based eating say vegans typically have lower levels of cholesterol and blood pressure, a lower body mass index and reduced risk of fatal heart disease, the statement explains.

The new menu also features a wide range of iced drinks, teas as well as a range of vitamin-packed juices – “all perfect for those enjoying a vegan lifestyle”.

Ali Bin Ali Hospitality opened the first Wagamama outlet in Qatar at Lagoona Mall in 2013 and recently opened two new outlets in Doha Festival City and Mall of Qatar.
