Qatar Tribune – The management of Souq Al Wakrah, overseen by the Private Engineering Office, is set to open Souq Al Wakrah's beach for the public as a means of entertainment for residents of Qatar's southern region during the hot summer season.
Speaking to QNA, Souq Al Wakrah Manager, Khalid Saif Al Suwaidi, said that the beach will open Thursday on a trial basis to ensure the readiness of services and other ones that might be needed.
He added that preparing the beach took some time so it becomes ready for swimming and be executed in a proper fashion as one of the most beautiful beaches in the southern region.
Al Suwaidi said that a number of restaurants oversee the beach area and will serve beachgoers, noting that access to the beach will be free for all, taking consideration the norms and traditions of the society. He added that swimsuits are required to access the beach, noting that changing rooms are available for both sexes.
Souq Al Wakrah's beach has attracted major events this year, including the Spring Festival and April Festival, featuring performances fitting the nature of the beach city.
